As a plus size person, it can be more *challenging* to go skiing at a moment’s notice or hop on your bike for a quick ride.
How do I know?
I know because I am a plus size gal who loves to be active. I’m not talking size 14 plus size gal. I’m talking size 22 (on a good day).

Most of all I hope it will give you the motivation to go out and find something that you want to do and get moving. Find your joy! Do it because it makes you happy. Do it because it makes you feel good.

Plus Size Sports Bras
Oh, how a bad bra can ruin a good plus fitness program. Not to mention your back. I know you hear me!
3 Factors to consider when buying a sports bra
- Motion Control
Motion control refers to how well does the bra control bounce during activity, especially high impact activities like running, horseback riding and aerobics. It is important for breast health and for comfort. Most sports bras fail miserably in this area, especially if you are large chested.
Comfort can mean many things. Do the straps dig into your shoulders? Do they fall down? Is the band around your chest big enough? How is the fabric feel against your skin? Does it chafe when you’re moving? These are all important when choosing a bra.
- Wicking ability
Wicking ability is important if you sweat. I don’t know about you but when I’m moving, I’m sweating. So a sports bra that can wick moisture away from your body can help you stay cooler. This helps with chafing in places that aren’t meant to chafe.
I have found biggerbras.com to have the largest online selection of sports bras. They also have customer reviews for each bra so you can read what people think about them. Sometimes they are so popular that stock is backordered. But they are great about communicating this.
My favorite all around sports bra is the goddess plus size bra because of the fit and flexibility for different sports.
The Goddess Plus Size Bra Near Perfection
I love this bra. If I could climb to a rooftop I would sing about it. I find it to work best for most sports I participate in such as golf, skiing, walking, running and biking.
Sizing is available from 34C to 48G, although some sizes do take longer to get. It does tend to run a little small so look at the sizing charts to be sure and MEASURE rather than guess.
My only time I wear an old fashion shelf sports bra is for pilates so when I am on my back for a long period of time I am not rolling on the fastener.
